Uniquely sculpted and transformed from the pages of history, the W. B. Wicker School stands as brilliantly revitalized Lee County focal point.

This historic Julius Rosenwald School, restored by Brick Capital Community Development Corporation in partnership with Self-Help Ventures Fund and other investors, public and private, serves as a vital center for education, healthcare, business and various community activities. The school was originally established in 1929 to ensure equality and success among ambitious African American students and promoted high standards both academically and socially that later spread across various cultural lines.

While embodying visions of the past, the school embraces new strategies to implement career training programs, community economic development and excellence in education. The W. B. Wicker Business Campus promotes growth in Sanford and establishes an unprecedented cornerstone for the Lee County area.

In honor of the great legacy left by W. B. Wicker and the many people that brought the school to life each day, a display room is available for public viewing. From photos to trophies; the space captures the spirit of the W. B. Wicker School Tigers through newspaper articles, yearbooks and a variety of original artifacts. While touring the display room, visitors can enjoy historic audio narratives from the faculty, student body and community.

  • Continuing Education- Offers professional development, personal enrichment, computer courses, medical program, career readiness certification, and human resources development.

  • Adult Learning (Basic Skills) - Provides high schools or GED diplomas as well as English literacy.

  • Dental Programs- Trains students for careers as a dental hygienist or dental assistant Clinic operates Monday through Thursday, by appointment only, and offers dental cleaning and x-rays to adults and children over the age of three.
