Single Family Housing

Brick Capital Community Development Corporation (Brick Capital CDC) was incorporated in 1990 to revitalize Brick Capital Redevelopment Area by building single-family homes to sell to working families earning less than 80% of median income in Lee County. In 1992, the City of Sanford and Brick Capital CDC’s Board of Directors partnered to build single-family and multi-family homes in Lee County.

Brick Capital CDC builds homes for working families or individuals who with a little assistance can afford their own home. Brick Capital CDC, in partnership with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, provides families with down payment assistance. Brick Capital CDC’s builds advanced energy efficiency homes.

Multi-Family Housing

In 1998, Brick Capital CDC built Apple Tree Apartments. Apple Tree Apartments are a forty-unit tax-credit rental project. Located in the Jonesboro area of Sanford, these apartments are rented to families 50% and below median income for Lee County.

In June 2003 Brick Capital CDC built 12 units of supportive housing for people with mental illness and for victims of domestic violence. Due to addition needs, Brick Capital CDC built 6 additional units in 2009 for individuals with disabilities. Brick Capital CDC, in partnership with Haven, is working towards building a 29 unit shelter and office in Sanford for victims of domestic violence

Benefits

Brick Capital CDC’s Housing Development uses local contractors to create jobs in the community. Brick Capital CDC also increases the tax base for the city and the county, and increases the stock of safe, affordable housing for all citizens of Lee County.
