Home Ownership

Brick Capital Community Development Corporation (Brick Capital CDC) offers a Home Buyers Program that is available to all members of the community. Working families earning between 50% and 80% of Lee County median income are eligible to be a part of Brick Capital Community Development Corporation's Home Buyer Program, and maybe also eligible for down payment assistance.

Designed to make home ownership a reality, Brick Capital CDC takes qualified applicants through the process of buying a home. The Home Buyer Education Course and one-on-one counseling are provided to families in both English and Spanish.

For those families with little debt, and good history of making rent and utility payments on time, the process can be quick. However, if a family has some late payments or unpaid bills, this program is designed to walk them through the process of minimizing their debts and building their credits history in order to qualify. In some cases, it takes a year or more for a family to purchase a home.

The average monthly mortgage payment, including taxes and insurance, on a three to four bedroom, two-bath home is comparable to or less than equivalent rental unit. Brick Capital CDC, in partnership with the NC Housing Finance Agency, offers down payment assistance to families in the Home Ownership Program. Brick Capital CDC may assist in paying the closing cost.
